A Core Value

24 June 2014

The GT86 CS-V3 race car, produced by TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG), demonstrated its speed and reliability with a series of impressive performances from its customer teams in the Nürburgring 24 Hours at the weekend.

Although the 24 hours is not part of the TMG GT86 Cup, eight GT86 CS-V3 cars entered the 24 Hours, including four from Dörr Motorsport and two from reigning V3 champions Toyota Suisse Racing.

All cars benefited from on-track spare parts and engineering support from TMG and the race provided another confirmation of the car’s impressive reliability record.

Toyota Suisse Racing retained its V3 title while in total GT86 CS-V3 cars filled six of the top seven places. Only two GT86 CS-V3 cars retired, as a result of accident damage.

That represented a total of 817 laps, or 20,700 km, during the Nürburgring 24 Hours race; enough to travel from Cologne to Tokyo and back.

Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: ”This year’s event was definitely one of the most spectacular race in the history of all 24-hour races at the Nürburgring. In total, 13 cars competed in the V3 class which was definitely one of the most remarkable and most closely-contested classes. Our customer racing cars again proved their outstanding reliability, not to mention their consistent performance. At the end of a long race, a hat-trick of V3 wins went to Toyota Suisse Racing together with Ring Racing who finished first and second. Congratulations to them and a big thank you to everyone involved at TMG and our external support staff for their enormous effort.”

TMG was also involved in other successful entries at the 24-hours race, providing logistic support for Gazoo Racing, winners of SP8, SP-Pro and SP3 classes.

In total, there were 14 Toyota or Lexus vehicles among the 165-car field, all featuring TMG involvement. Only three German manufacturers had more cars entered, making Toyota/Lexus, via TMG, the biggest non-German entrant.
