19 July 2011

Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) was the venue for Toyota Family Day 2011, an event for the staff and relatives of all Toyota family companies based in Toyota Allee, Cologne on Saturday 16 June.

Around 1,500 people associated with TMG, Toyota Deutschland GmbH, Toyota Kreditbank GmbH, Toyota Versicherungsdienst, Toyota Informations Systeme GmbH and Toyota Logistics Services Deutschland GmbH visited the 30,000m² facility on a sunny day.

The visitors enjoyed exclusive behind-the-scenes access to TMG’s cutting-edge engineering, testing and production facilities whilst also viewing some of the latest high-performance cars developed there, including a range of electric vehicles.

A key aspect of Family Day was fund-raising for victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, via a special auction and sales of merchandise and refreshments.

Visitors contributed €8,382 to the ‘Ashinaga’ charity (www.ashinaga.org), a Japanese organisation providing educational and emotional support for orphans worldwide. The proceeds will be used to build a ‘Rainbow House’ in the north of Japan to care for young people affected by the disaster.

Members of the Toyota family in Toyota Allee have already donated over €200,000 to the German Red Cross since the disaster occurred in March.
