TMG is proud to announce it has fully upgraded its suite of stereolithography (STL) machines to use the exciting new PerFORM material from DSM Somos.

As one of only two beta testers worldwide, TMG already has in-depth experience of this advanced new material and is pleased to be the first company to offer it commercially to customers.

The reasons to upgrade were clear: PerFORM delivers excellent resolution, quicker post-processing times and higher heat tolerance.

Importantly for TMG, this also opens up a new area of activity. Using PerFORM TMG can now produce tooling for injection moulding applications; the perfect solution for fast prototype moulds.

Other uses of PerFORM include wind tunnel models, electrical casings, automotive housings and other prototypes for almost every type of industry.

Gerard Winstanley, TMG’s Manager Composites, Fabrication and Rapid Manufactiring, said: “TMG is proud to have such a mutually-beneficial relationship with DSM and it has been a fascinating experience to work together on the development and first commercial use of PerFORM. This material shows clear improvement on previous nanotool material, particularly in terms of its high-definition detail and the build wall quality, as well as its stability.

“The advances we have seen in PerFORM have allowed TMG to break into a new area of the industry and this perfectly illustrates how big a step DSM has made with this material. Using PerFORM, TMG is now able to produce tooling for injection moulding, combining the cost efficiency and fast production times of traditional additive manufacturing with the accuracy and high definition required in the injection moulding industry. This has been made possible due to the characteristics of PerFORM and we are looking forward to sharing these advantages with our customers.”
